Section Definition

The Department of Construction and Projects is considered one of the vital and effective departments at the university because it contains many buildings, laboratories, and public facilities that were designed with an advanced civilizational vision that keeps pace with the cultural and architectural progress taking place and meets the requirements of the university environment. One of the priorities of the work of this department is to implement the university’s future visions on the ground to keep up with them. Scientific progress and accommodating the increasing numbers of people accepted to the university, which increase year after year by building new units within international specifications.

Vision


1. Preparing engineering project plans and following up and implementing these projects.
2. Following up on the latest developments and international engineering standards and applying them in the university’s future projects to create a distinct, attractive environment.
3. Developing engineering thought and bringing the university to advanced levels.
4. Through future projects, students of engineering colleges can be trained for the purpose of linking the academic aspect to the applied aspect and reaching the vision drawn for the engineer’s potential in all theoretical and applied aspects.

Mission

The Department of Construction and Projects seeks to prepare special future plans to create distinguished university buildings with unique architectural designs by studying and implementing university projects, ensuring the highest security, safety and health requirements in the designs, and working to apply international standards to ensure the quality of outputs and excellence, reaching international classifications, and creating the best stimulating environment for university members.

Goals


1. Preparing engineering project plans and following up and implementing these projects.

Department Divisions

The Department of Construction and Projects is affiliated with the Vice President for Administrative Affairs. The department includes three divisions as shown below:

1. Project Planning Division:


Division tasks:
• Preparing integrated studies (economic and technical feasibility) to determine the requirements for establishing new projects or rehabilitating and maintaining existing buildings and determining priorities for their implementation.
• Preparing and reviewing project forms for the purpose of discussing them with the relevant authorities to include them within the Ministry’s plan and coordinating with the rest of the units in the formation for the purpose of completing land preparation, completing designs, and removing material and legal problems, if any.
• Preparing development and training plans and the size of the staff in line with the size of projects and the plan for future projects.
• Surveying work, checking the designs of new buildings, and making some modifications to existing buildings in various engineering specializations, according to the urgent need of the university.
• Participate in pricing committees, spare orders, additional periods, or any work to support the department in general.

2. Project Implementation Division:


Division tasks:
• Supervising the implementation of engineering works for assigned projects.
• Preparing change orders and recommending the granting of additional periods.
• Preparing advances for completed works and materials offered.
• Organizing the work file and recording daily events.
• Coordination with relevant parties for the purpose of overcoming implementation obstacles.
• Participation in the receiving and final committees or any other committees or work that support the department.

3. Projects Follow-up Division


Division tasks:
• Follow up on project implementation and technical and financial auditing to determine completion rates, in addition to identifying obstacles, noting deviations, and providing solutions.
• Preparing monthly reports on investment plan projects, in addition to the reports and positions required for all projects implemented on other axes.
• Evaluating employees’ performance.
• Participation in pricing and additional terms committees.
• Follow up and audit tests of materials used in implementing projects, field and laboratory tests, and their conformity with the applicable standard technical specifications.
• Carrying out any assigned work that is consistent with the work of the department and the university.
