About

The Legal Affairs Department was established at Al-Farahidi University on May 26, 2013. The Legal Affairs Department is considered a major and important backbone in the university’s functional structure in making and formulating decisions issued by the senior administrative leadership, as it is known that the administrative decision must have a base on which it is based, which are laws and regulations. Which defines powers. This is with regard to the administrative side. As for the technical side of the department’s work, it sheds light on the deficiencies and negatives that may be present in the administrative function, in cooperation with other Colleges that are working on issuing a vision that aims to bring them together in the future, in addition to defending the ranks of the university and its employees and representing them before all other institutions.

Job description for Director of Legal Affairs Department:

Which is headed by a specialized legal employee, and with the assistance of a number of legal employees who meet the necessary conditions to fill the position, including "experience and specialization". The Director of Legal Affairs studies the problems and inquiries received by the department that require a legal opinion and proposes what he deems appropriate within the applicable laws, regulations, bylaws, and instructions in force. It is then presented to the executive body with the authority to approve it.

Vision

An effective administrative legal system that enhances integrity and transparency, and establishes a culture of law among university employees by respecting their rights and duties, and preventing identity fraud, in accordance with the laws and instructions issued in accordance with applicable Iraqi law, Representing the university in all internal and external lawsuits before the courts, departments, and institutions within the functional jurisdiction.

Mission

Developing and implementing the law enforcement mechanism in cooperation with all departments at the university, taking the necessary measures and implementing them by expressing legal opinions and providing legal advice to all aspects of the university, following up and forming advisory committees to discuss and deliberate to develop solutions, and finding a working mechanism to come up with a vision that limits the phenomenon of differing opinions and personal jurisprudence.

Goals


1. Providing legal advice on everything related to legal, administrative and financial issues at the university in accordance with applicable laws and legislation.
2. Organizing everything related to employment contracts and guarantees for university members (employees and lecturers).
3. Follow up on all university properties in terms of allocation and transfer of ownership.
4. Follow up on all lawsuits filed against the university by others and vice versa (university lawsuits against others).
5. Consider and decide on all preliminary and discriminatory investigative committees that relate to the rights of the university and its members.

Duties and tasks of the Director of the Legal Affairs Department:


1. Participate in setting the main objectives of the university and formulating them legally.
2. Respond to all legal questions and inquiries, and provide advice and legal opinions regarding legal rights and obligations.
3. Work to study all issues related to the university, and follow up on disputes in which the university is a party.
4. Providing legal opinion in drafting, reviewing and approving university contracts and agreements.
5. Monitoring laws and legal legislation that affect the work of the university, and making recommendations regarding them.
6. Working to find solutions to cases and problems that are not covered by the law or where the instructions are ambiguous.
7. Reviewing the university’s internal system in cooperation with the rest of the departments.
8. Receiving all employee complaints and expressing an opinion on them.
9. Verifying the implementation of the law and instructions issued.
10. Providing legal procedures for violators of controls and instructions.
